When it is cold outside and you listen to the baritone voice of Stuart A. Staples from the band The Tindersticks, then the music can be balsam for the soul. To release a new album in winter, in January has still a special charme. Today the British Band The Tindersticks release their new Album “The Waiting Room”. Stuart A. Staples said that he preferably listen to music with closed eyes. That´s why the sound must work without moving pictures, as a soundtrack for your own cinema and fantasy and I would add for your soul. And it works again well. The Tinderstcks are back on track and diving again into another reality full of melancholy and quietness.
For every song on the album different film directors (Christoph Girardet, Pierre Vinour, Claire Denis, Rosie Pedlow and others) translated the music into short videos, as you can see below.
“We are dreamers” was a collaboration with Savages’ Jehnny Beth. And “Hey Lucinda”, was a touching collaboration with the french singer Lhasa De Sela. A beautiful evening serenade. Sadly she died too young already in 2010.
